When I was planning my first running streak, I knew I would need all the motivational aids I could get my hands on. It would take everything possible for me to accomplish the goal. There would be days where it would all become a chore and I wouldn’t want to continue. So, in preparation for my streak, I gathered a bunch of running motivation videos to help keep me pumped.

Luckily, I had a lot of people cheering me on and that helped carry me through the whole thing. But even now, as I begin working toward my newest goal, today just feels off. I don’t want to work, I don’t want to even try and exercise. It feels like the day is already over and it hasn’t even started.

That’s what these videos are for. On days (or weeks) when you just ‘can’t’ get out there and run, when you just ‘can’t’ get to the gym, when you ‘can’t’ make that phone call. Turn one of these videos on and hopefully you’ll get a little pumped and it will get you out the door and moving toward your goal.

We have to find ways to trick ourselves into doing the things that make us successful. Whether that’s making it to therapy or it’s finishing that resume, some days we just don’t want to do the right thing. If you’re like me, you have a long year of hard work ahead of you, and you’re going to need all the motivation you can get.

Let these videos inspire you, pump you up, and get your blood flowing. Maybe you’ll even shed a tear but go with it. Be sure to visualize your goal while you watch these videos too. That will help them make the most impact. Tip: Bookmark this page so you can come back to it often and watch a different video.

Even if you’re not a runner, I’m sure you can get something out of my little motivation library.

Now, pick a video, sit back and get ready to work toward your goal.

Get pumped, it’s Day 1

This one will get you ready to take on the week ahead. Before the video even gets going you’re already like, ‘$&%# yeah, I’m a runner!’

Feel a bit more inspired for Day 2

This one is an ode to the running spirit no matter how weird it may be.

Push it, it’s only Day 3

This one always gets me pumped to lift heavy or run hard. I think my pace gets better every time I watch it.

In honor of other Sad Runners on Day 4

This is the video that first inspired me to start Sad Runner so I’m partial to it. Yes, I’m biased, but it’s still my favorite of the week. You can watch a bigger version on our site here.

Time to crush Day 5

This one starts out slow but I get halfway through it and I start wondering if there are some bleachers nearby that I can sprint up today. So lace up and get ready.

Get long run ready with Day 6

Meb’s my boy. I mean we don’t know each other or anything but I’m sure we’re cool like that. Nobody really inspires me as a runner like he does. I can’t watch his training videos without wanting to go crush a long run of my own. This is my favorite Meb video, just watching him run on the open road gets me amped.

Get ready to do it all again with Day 7

I can’t mention running motivation videos without including Killian. I’m always inspired by the idea of running places most people never even walk. Be it a car-less bridge into manhattan or an untouched mountain summit, the idea of running where nobody else does just gets me going. Well, Killian’s the man when it comes to running where nobody else dares to run. What most people would be too afraid to hike, Kílian Jornet calls a cool down run.

Whether you’re training for a race, hitting the gym, or just trying to live a day on your terms and not your depression’s, we all need some help getting motivated from time to time. I hope these running motivation videos keep you pumped up and moving toward your goal like they often do for me.
