You may have noticed that it has been pretty quiet around here lately. It has been an intense few months for me, and there seems to be no sign of it tapering off.
It hasn’t been all bad as I will explain. (Keep reading below for an exciting Sad Runner announcement!)
The Day Job
One of the projects I’ve been working on has taken off and what began as a small software build has turned into one of the largest developments many of us have ever undertaken.
I am a perpetual startup guy, so I have been enjoying much of the work. My masochistic startup fixation aside, building a company this size is an undeniable time-suck leaving very little time to build a blog like Sad Runner.
I hope to have the energy to write about the last few months. The doctor’s visits, the tests, the seemingly crazy treatments, the peaks and the valleys are all worth some reflection. The short answer is that things seem to be moving in a positive direction. I can tell that I am getting better. It is a slow and very painful process, but I do have some hope.
The Writer’s Block
I’ve been choking on writer’s block lately. Whether I’m writing sales copy for the day job or trying to write a letter to a friend, the blank page head butts me every morning. The rest of the day is a guilty, self-loathing blur.
My writer’s block started the day after I asked my small group for prayer about a project I wanted to work on for Sad Runner. I asked my small group to pray for creativity and the right words. The well dried up immediately.
If you’ve been reading Sad Runner long enough then you know I won’t let that stop me. Opposition means I’m running in the right direction.
I hunkered down, and though I have been absent from the blog, I have overcome my block and have worked to create something that I am very excited to share with you.
The Exciting News
There is no shortage of Bible studies on the Internet. To my disappointment, I cannot find more than a blog post that covers the topics of depression and anxiety. If you want to dive into God’s Word more than once and learn some truths that can help your fight against depression you’re a bit out of luck. Until now.
I have created a seven-day devotional series that will help you in your fight. Over the course of a week, you will unpack seven powerful truths from the Bible that will help you survive and even start to thrive again despite your struggles.
Whether you have depression, generalized anxiety or are just going through a tough time, this devotional series will help encourage and even challenge you as you walk uphill in your faith.
I have always wanted to do a devotional email series, and I’m so excited that I can now finally share this with you.
Please stay nearby as I have more planned for Sad Runner. Our small community is growing, and the word is getting out that depression doesn’t have to be shameful and it doesn’t have to be the end.
Keep moving forward,
~Adam, Sad Runner
